Understand Mark 11:22-25
Good day, Beloveds
Today, I went through this scripture with someone, and then again, I went through it with a different person. The first time, I got a new revelation, and the second time, an even deeper revelation. This shoke me because it shows that with every reading, the Holy Spirit wants to reveal more to us.
After reading this, I will do an introspection and ask God to search my heart and reveal what I lack according to this scripture. Even though it can be a lot to take in. I always appreciate a moment of humility to see that I am nothing without Jesus and the Holy Spirit interceding for me and teaching me. I hope it does the same for you.
Let understand the scripture:
•Jesus said: The son of God and the true word of God is sharing this with us. Jesus shares only what our Father told him to share.
•To the disciples: Jesus was not just talking to any person but those who were following him, his students who were learning to be like him.
•"I tell you the truth": Jesus was 100% holy and could not lie. This reminds us that he is not like us to just say things.
•"Have faith in God": This is a commandment. If we don't have faith in God, it means we are not obeying all the commandments that Jesus gave us.
•"You can": It's what we can do. Jesus didn't say you might.
•"Say to": You can instruct it. You need to use your words.
• "This mountain": This is not a figure of speech. Jesus refers to a literal mountain the disciples could see.
•"You may be lifted up and throw in the sea": What you speak instructs a mountain to do something.
If we can't do this, can we really say we have faith in God? (verse 22)
•"It will happen": Jesus didn't say it might happen. He guarantees that it will happen. Do you even believe that it can happen?
•But: There is a condition.
•You must believe it will happen: For it to happen, you first need to believe it will. We don't believe many things will happen, so what about a mountain being thrown in the sea. Then can we say we really have faith?
•Have no doubt in your heart: Doubt is a serious feeling or thought process. Jesus says that we can't have it. We seem to always have doubt to the point that we have normalised it.
•"Tell you, you can pray for anything": Do you pray for anything and not doubt? No, we don't. We pray for something and still doubt in our hearts.
•"If you believe that you have received it: We usually hope that we might or we will receive it. Jesus said we should believe that we have received it. It's already done by faith and not by sight. This is not the same as hoping.
•It will be yours: This is a promise from Jesus. He says " it will be yours," and not it might. We doubt that certain things will be ours. We measure ourselves based on circumstances or our background.
•But: For the verses before to apply to us, they are based on a condition.
•Condition-When you pray: We should always communicate with God.
•Condition-First: It should be a priority.
•Condition-Forgive: There is a required action from you.
•Condition-Anyone: This not limited to who the person is or what they did.
•You are holding: Not those holding but you holding. It's talking to you and not the next person. You chose to hold instead of letting go.
•Against: To a particular person or people.
•So: There is a second condition, which means when you do the above, the below will happen.
•That your Father: The one you call your God, it's about the two of you and your relationship. God is the one who will judge us for our sins.
•Will: This is a guaranteed promise tied into the conditions.
•Forgive: This is the same action required from you. So God will also take the same action Jesus is instructing you to take.
•Your sins: These are the wrong and hurtful things you did to God. Just like the person did hurtful things to you.
•Too: It's a continuation of what you did. You receive what you gave. When you forgive, you will be forgiven, and if you don't, you won't be forgiven.
When we have faith in God and believe that something impossible can happen. Then we will have the supernatural power to tell a physical mountain to be thrown in the sea. We don't need to get engineers, machinery and funds to move this mountain. We are only required to have faith in God and believe.
We should have a relationship with God where we pray. What we speak to him in prayer about we need to believe even if we don't know if it's humanly possible. However, we should never doubt it. Jesus wants us to believe that we can ask for anything and it is granted to us as we are. Not that we will receive it.
It's amazing to have this faith but we need to know and understand that we can have supernatural power and we can have whatever we ask from God but if we hold grudges or don't forgive we won't receive the power, what we ask for and the big one is our sins will not be forgiven.
Even if you live a holy life and serve God as long as you have not forgiven and are still holding a grudge, then your sins wo t be cleansed away even if you confess and repent. This is scary.
Please note: Forgiveness has nothing to do with the person asking forgiveness or you telling them that you have forgiven them. Forgiveness is the condition of your heart that only God can see. When you let go of the offence and not holding the person against what they did to you.
Forgiveness doesn't take the pain away. You need to ask God to heal and comfort you.
Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting unless you have amnesia. But if you ask God to make you forget the offence or what happened he can do that.
Many people think that they have forgiven or they are not holding grudges, but that's far from the truth.
Another thing is reconciliation isn't the same as forgiveness. If the other person lacks repentance it means they remain habitual sinners and we don't have to reconcile with them. However leave room for the moment of their true redemption which only God knows. So don't say I will never speak to that person again. Imagine if God said that to us because of our countless sins.
Jesus was speaking about a physical mountain but this also refers to spiritual, emotional, relational, financial, physical challenges in your life. They can be removed if you just believe and not doubt. Don't focus on the time it takes for it to manifest.
Focus on that you know that it's done and you have received. Leave the day, time, where and how to our Heavenly Daddy.
With Love
