What are the gifts of the Spirit? Understand 1 Corinthians 12

The Supernatural Life: Power, Fruits, and Gifts

Good day, Beloveds.

Did you know that the same power that resurrected Jesus Christ lives in every one of His true followers? This is the reason Jesus said we would do what He did—and even greater things.

John 14:12 (CEV): "I tell you for certain that if you have faith in me, you will do the same things I am doing. You will do even greater things, now that I am going back to the Father."

Jesus spent years teaching His disciples to be like Him because He was the perfect reflection of our Heavenly Father. Our origin, as seen in Genesis, was to be like God. Jesus came to return us to that origin and restore our true identity.

Genesis 1:26-27 (CEV): "God said, 'Now we will make humans, and they will be like us...' So God created humans to be like himself..."

Before Jesus ascended, He gave His followers an assignment: to complete the works He began. He knew that in our human strength, this was impossible. To make us as "supernatural" as He was, He promised to send the Holy Spirit to those who have faith and obey His commands.

The Authority and the Spirit

Every person who sees Jesus as Lord and Savior must surrender their life for the Kingdom of God. (I intentionally didn't use the word "Christian" here, but rather "follower.")

What did Jesus give us to make this possible?

  1. Authority: He gave His followers all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18).
  2. The Teacher: He gave us the Holy Spirit to teach us how to exercise that authority and know the truth.
  3. Presence: He ensured we would never feel like orphans in His physical absence.

Character and Power

The Holy Spirit transforms us in two specific ways:

1. Character (The Fruit)

Galatians 5:22-23: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Through these fruits, we become humble like Jesus. Without the fruit, we cannot truly reflect the Father.

2. Supernatural Power (The Gifts)

1 Corinthians 12:7-11: The Spirit gives different gifts to each of us—wise advice, special knowledge, great faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, and speaking in or interpreting tongues. These gifts are superpowers given to us to help others, make disciples, and strengthen the Body of Christ.

Why is the Church Silent About These Gifts?

Many local assemblies (church organizations) are selective or silent regarding the gifts of the Spirit. Why?

  • Fear, lack of knowledge, or misunderstanding.
  • Jealousy, intimidation, or a desire for control.
  • Spiritual blindness.

The danger of ignoring these gifts is severe:

  • The Holy Spirit is quenched and grieved.
  • Miracles decrease, and habitual sin increases.
  • Believers turn to New Age or ancestral methods to understand their spiritual experiences because the church provides no answers.

Warning: New Age and Spiritist Influences

When the church fails to teach the prophetic or the supernatural, believers get lost in dangerous alternatives:

  • New Age Christians: Those who seek guidance from fortune tellers, tarot cards, crystals, or reiki. This opens doors to spirits that are not of the Light.
  • Spiritist Christians: Those who conjure or seek instructions from the dead (deceased relatives). The Bible is clear: the dead dwell in the realm of the dead, not in the realm of God. You cannot fulfill Jesus’ assignment while taking instructions from a spirit other than the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 38:18 (NLT): "For the dead cannot praise you... Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness."

My Journey: The Undercover Cop

How do I know this? I lived both lives. When my prophetic gift and "seer" gift manifested, I found nothing online to explain them according to the Bible. Everything was New Age. I was seeing angels, demons, and the spiritual realm, and the church organizations I attended couldn't help me.

I now realize I had to be like an "undercover cop." I had to experience the secrets of those worlds so I could explain them to you today. Experience is often the best teacher, and this was God’s plan for me to help set you free.

The Goal: Heaven on Earth

What would happen if all true followers of Jesus discovered and used their gifts?

  • The blind would see and the lame would walk—no need for a microchip.
  • Food would be multiplied; hunger would cease.
  • Mental illness, addictions, and generational curses would be broken.
  • Believers wouldn't feel the need to thwasa (initiation for traditional healing) or take guidance from dead spirits.
  • The Bible would become our daily reality.

To sum it up: It would be on earth as it is in heaven!
