Understand Acts 5:32

Good day, Beloveds 

Many people believe in Jesus but don't understand the connection to the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 5:28, Peter and the apostles were told to stop teaching in the name of Jesus. The apostles were telling people about the resurrection of Jesus, but the high priest and the Jewish council wanted them to stop.


In verse 32, we see how Peter and the apostles told them that they came to tell them about how they (the high priest and council) killed Jesus, but God resurrected him and gave him a place next to his throne.

What do we learn from verse 32?
1. The apostles were not alone. The Holy Spirit was with them.
2. The apostles received the Holy Spirit after Jesus ascended to heaven.
3. The Holy Spirit is God's gift to people.
4. The Holy Spirit is only a gift to people who obey God.

How does this relate to us?
1. Do you know if the Holy Spirit is with you? Before the Holy Spirit can be with us, we first need to receive him.
2. Have you received the Holy Spirit? We are first required to have faith in Jesus before the Holy Spirit can be with us.
3. If we have faith in Jesus, do we have the Holy Spirit? If we say that we have faith in Jesus, but we disobey God, we can not have the Holy Spirit.
4. Can we choose to have the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is a gift only God can give him to people. No one can pray for a person to receive the Holy Spirit unless the one being prayed for is obedient to God. Even religious activities (reading the bible, fasting, tithing, going to church, praying in the early hours) will not give us the Holy Spirit. It's only through reading the word and obeying what God says through Jesus Christ. 

Take away
• The only way to the Father is by being like Jesus and only him.
• The only way to be like Jesus is through the power of the Holy Spirit.
• The only way to receive the Holy Spirit is through obedience to God.
• The only way to obey God is by studying his word with understanding and revelation and applying it. 
• The only way to receive understanding and revelation is by repenting.
• The only way to repent is to die to yourself 
• The only way to die to yourself is to love Jesus more than anything and everyone else, even your own life.

This is the cost that many people are not willing to pay, even those who call themselves Christians.


To become a Spirit Filled Christ Follower, you need to be an empty cup. Forget everything you know and allow the Holy Spirit to fill you. He will teach you the way of our saviour, he will remind you of the truth that Jesus spoke, and that will lead you to eternal life with the Father and the Son.

Disciples are teachable and will follow the way of Christ. They follow the image of Christ and are only led by the Spirit. They focus first on themselves, and then when they see properly, they help others.

But Christians are title based and fail to follow the way and only speak part of the way, focusing on others and not themselves. They follow the way of the church leaders and the image of the church
