Understand what is the Word of God

Good day Beloveds,

Many people approach the Bible as if it were just another novel or ordinary book, forgetting that the Word of God is truly supernatural. It is our ultimate guide, safeguarding us from poor choices and teaching us how to live.

John 14:21 NLT declares,  
“Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”

In John 14:23-26 NLT, Jesus emphasizes,  
“All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me. I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”

These scriptures are unmistakable: our love for Jesus is evidenced by our obedience to His commands. Many believers may claim to love Jesus, but if they aren’t following His teachings, that love is hollow. To truly love Jesus means to accept and actively obey His commands.

Am I living out my faith as I should? Do I fully embrace every command Jesus has given, or do I pick and choose? Am I merely aware of the Word without putting it into action? Do I profess my love for Jesus based solely on my feelings? Those feelings alone are not enough.

Being lukewarm in my walk with Christ is not an option. If I am genuinely His, I will commit to changing my ways today and fully engaging in what Jesus has instructed.

Confession

Father, I recognize that I have not taken Your Word as seriously as I should. I have not followed the teachings of the Scriptures wholeheartedly. I have proclaimed my love for Jesus while neglecting to accept and obey His commands. I ask for Your assistance in changing my heart and surrendering to Your will. Help me to study the Bible diligently, avoiding selective reading and instead embracing all of Your truth.

Prayer

Guide me, Lord, through Your Word. I thank You for establishing the standards by which I should live. Teach me obedience and instill a reverent fear of You within me. Help me to prioritize You in every aspect of my life. In Jesus’ name, I ask for Your wisdom and strength to accept and obey what Jesus has taught us.
